Universal Engineering’s Auto-Reverse Disc Braking System is a proven design used by the UK military for towed vehicles up to 2.2 tonnes gross vehicle weight.
The system complies with current EU legislation and meets the requirements for inertia braked on/off road trailers.
It comprises of the following main components:
- The Auto-Reverse Calliper Assembly
- The Tow Hitch
- The Emergency Breakaway System
- The Auto-Reverse Calliper Assembly is a single piston sliding calliper type, with mechanical handbrake mechanism.
- In accordance with current EU legislation, this calliper assembly allows the trailer to brake normally and to immediately be reversed, with no additional actions required from the operator.
- The Tow Hitch is inertia-operated with full hydraulic operation and damping. It has been designed to fully complement the Auto-Reverse Disc Braking System. It ensures that the system provides optimum performance both on and off road.
- The Emergency Breakaway System is hydraulically operated and designed to fully complement the auto-reverse disc braking system. It operates via a breakaway cable if the trailer becomes detached from the towing vehicle.
